THE DEATH OF LABOR UNIONS

In a 5-4 decision the United States Supreme court stuck a dagger in the heart of big labor and labor unions by ruling that unions can not collect fees from non union members and that forcing people to pay union dues should not be compulsory for having a job. The Supreme Court essentially killed the union by saying you can not be forced to join a union a s part of your employment with the public or private sector. This ruling will lead to the loss of donations to the union, membership in the union and the political clout that the union hold mainly with the Democratic Party. They money will take a drive in donations to the Democratic Party.
The decision was 5-4 in favor of the individual worker and overturned the ruling Abood v. Detroit Board of Education. Todays rulings said that a union can not collect fees from non union members. The money that the unions collected went along way in donations to the Democratic Party and non some of those donations will most likely dry up as non union members now have a choice as to where their money is going or not going in this particular case. The money that the union collect help them gain political power and most of those donations tend to side with the Democratic Party as they use their money and their influence to support the Democratic Party for pushing pro union legislation.
This case is a big break for workers rights and workers are now not forced to join a union for potential employment. This will definitely lead to the death of the unions as they have relied in the past on forced union dues in order to obtain and maintain a job in a public sector union. This is a big win for right to work states and now it may seem that the entire country is right to work as a person is not forced to join a union.
