“Please do it. Please do it. Please!” Trump Challenges Cuomo to Run Against Him in the 2020 Election

During a fundraising event for Republican Rep. Claudia Tenney on Monday, President Trump challenged New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to run against him in the 2020 election reminding Cuomo, “Anybody that runs against Trump suffers.”
Trump said Cuomo, who’s running for re-election against “Sex and the City” star Cynthia Nixon, had once called him and told him, “I’ll never run for president against you,” according to the Western Journal.
“He called me and said I will never run for president against you. But maybe he wants to. Please do it. Please do it. Please! He did say that. The one thing we know, they do say anybody that runs against Trump suffers. That’s the way it should be,” Trump said.

Trump maintained that New York could have the lowest taxes in the nation if Cuomo had allowed hydraulic fracturing, (fracking) in New York and mentioned Cuomo wanting to take away their rights to the Second Amendment.
“You better be careful because they want to end your Second Amendment, they are putting a big move on it. And Cuomo wants to end your Second Amendment more than anything,” Trump said.
“It’s very sad to see what’s happened with New York,” Trump said. “This could have been Boomtown, U.S.A.”
Cuomo responded on Twitter to the comment Trump made on his position when it comes to gun rights saying, “Donald Trump & the NRA – bankrupt bedfellows: literally and morally. Unlike Trump, I’m not afraid to take on the NRA.”

Cuomo’s office had released a statement before Trump arrived that accused Trump of having “forgotten what made this country great.”
“Despite being a native New Yorker, since you took office, you have attacked our healthcare, passed a tax law that punished New York in order to fund corporate tax cuts, ripped immigrant New Yorkers from their families, launched an assault on our environment, and undermined the basic values on which this state and this nation were built,” the statment read.
Trump referred to Gillibrand as the “puppet” of Democratic senator for New York, Chuck Schumer. “She’s been up to my office looking for campaign contributions. And she’s very aggressive on contributions, but she’s not very aggressive on getting things done,” Trump said.
Gillibrand responded on Twitter, “The President refuses to acknowledge the work I’ve gotten done. Sound familiar, ladies?”
