Pro-Trump Wendy Rogers Says Opponent ‘Sold Out’ Taxpayers in Brutal Ad

An America First candidate for U.S. House of Representatives from Arizona released a brutal attack ad against her opponent ahead of Tuesday’s Republican primary.

“Rio Nuevo – more than a quarter billion wasted,” said pro-Trump Wendy Rogers’ ad. “And thanks to Steve Smith, a bailout costing tens of millions more.”

Rio Nuevo is a taxpayer subsidized “tax increment finance district” (TIF) that is  “designed to expand the tax base, bring patrons and new businesses to downtown Tucson in partnership with the private sector developers, investors and commercial lenders.”

According to Tuscon.comthe state legislature “seized control of Rio Nuevo after years of financial mismanagement, and appointed a new, state-controlled board to oversee the district.”

Apparently, the state control has not worked out well either.

“Smith sold out Arizona taxpayers one week before his fundraiser with Rio Nuevo developers, then tried to cover his tracks by voting ‘no’ after the deal was done,” the ad said.

“On our side, Wendy Rogers,” it says. “Tough, conservative, pro-Trump, pro-taxpayer. It’s time to stop the taxpayer ripoffs.”

Rogers will square off with State Rep. Steve Smith (R), and Tiffany Shedd on Tuesday.

Big League Politics reported:

Rogers is an Air Force Colonel, commissioned into the Air Force from Michigan State University with her bachelor’s degree. She received a master’s degree from the University of Alabama in Clinical Social Work.

“She began her career treating patients in the Air Force mental health clinic,” says her website. “In 1981, Wendy Rogers became one of the first 100 women pilots in today’s Air Force by earning her wings at Williams AFB in Arizona. Following Air Force jet training, Lt. Col. Rogers piloted worldwide airlift and humanitarian missions in the C-141 transport jet for several years. Lt. Col. Rogers then served as a flight instructor for cadets at the US Air Force Academy. The latter half of Col. Rogers’ 20-year Air Force career placed her overseas. While in Europe, Lt. Col. Rogers piloted Air Force C-21 Learjets and led three different operational divisions at Headquarters US Air Forces Europe.”

She finished her career with over 3,000 hours of flight time, earning numerous commendations, including the Defense Meritorious Service Medal.

Smith runs a questionable talent agency.
