¡ADIOS NAFTA! HELLO USMCA! EH?
According to @realDonaldTrump, “Late last night, our deadline [Sept. 30], we reached a wonderful new Trade Deal with Canada, to be added into the deal already reached with Mexico. The new name will be The United States Mexico Canada Agreement, or USMCA. It is a great deal for all three countries."
"[It] greatly opens markets to our Farmers and Manufacturers, reduces Trade Barriers to the U.S. and will bring all three Great Nations together in competition with the rest of the world. The USMCA is a historic transaction!," @realDonaldTrump added.
Some sources maintain that by replacing NAFTA with USMCA, Trump revolutionized global trade.
For example, according Christian Whiton/Fox News, the benefits include--
--aiding US farmers by restraining Canada’s high tariffs on U.S. dairy products.
--strengthening U.S. car manufacturing by dropping foreign portion from 40 to 25 percent.
--easing the burden on sick Americans who fund drug development by paying full price for patented drugs. Now Canada and Mexico will help recover expenses.
--protecting U.S. digital services and intellectual property.
