Chelsea Clinton calls Kavanaugh testimony “nakedly partisan”
The former first daughter and vice chair of the Clinton Initiative, Chelsea Clinton was recently interviewed by CBS This Morning. Chelsea, author of several political kids books including She Persisted: 13 Women Who Changed the World and She Persisted Around the World was promoting her latest accomplishment Start Now!: You Can Make a Difference “which teaches young people how to make change.”
Norah O’Donnell, CBS This Morning co-host, commented on how she had sticky-noted p. 106 of Chelsea’s new book where it is written: “Kindness creates more kindness.”
O’Donnell quickly transitioned the interview to the topic of the Kavanaugh hearings.
Asking Chelsea if she and her parents were surprised by Kavanaugh’s reference to the Clintons in his opening statement before the Senate Judiciary Committee last Thursday, Chelsea said [as though she were addressing Kavanaugh]: "Oh, my gosh, we loom so much larger in your mind than you loom, at least in mine." She added: “I don’t think I heard his [Kavanaugh’s] name until he was nominated weeks ago.” Chelsea also described Kavanaugh’s testimony as “nakedly partisan.”
When asked to comment on Trump’s “mocking," as O'Donnell termed it, Dr. Ford at his rally, Chelsea said it was “not becoming” of the President. She said President Trump should not be mocking anyone—not Dr. Ford, not a Gold Star Family, and not a disabled reporter.
It’s unfortunate Chelsea hasn’t developed more introspection along with her ability to politicize, write kids books, and more importantly mother her own children. As Kenneth Burke, American literary theorist, has written: “A way of seeing is a way of not seeing.”
Anyway, Chelsea’s new kids’ book is on sale. Maybe the title of her next tome could be: Guess Who’s Calling The Kettle Black?
