Collins believes Kav: “A Woman Decides: 50th Vote”
In a statement that may make history books, Senator Susan Collins (R-Maine) stood firm and strong in the face of leftist opposition and delivered a rousing speech in defense of Judge Kavanugh’s record on the Senate floor on Friday.
Senator Collins said that after hearing the testimony of Judge Kavanaugh and Dr. Ford and reviewing the “supplemental” FBI report, she has concluded that Ford’s allegations do not meet the “more likely than not” standard.
Senator Collins also spoke to arguably the most important take-away of the Kavanaugh proceedings for all Americans—the presumption of innocence: “In evaluating any given claim of misconduct, we will be ill-served in the long run if we abandon the presumption of innocence and fairness, tempting though it may be.”
The clincher of her statement, however, were these words: “Mr. President, I will vote to confirm Judge Kavanaugh.”
The vote of Collins and Senator Joe Manchin (D-West Virginia) for Kavanaugh remind us that the US is still home of the brave.
