WATCH: Keith Ellison Defends Anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan: “He Had Something to Offer”

During the debate in the race for Minnesota attorney general on Sunday, Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) addressed his relationship with anti-semite Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan.

Ellison’s Republican opponent, Doug Wardlow, noted how Ellison has been “associated” with the outspoken anti-semite for decades.

Ellison can be seen in the photo below with Farrakhan at a meeting in 2013, where Ellison and fellow Democrat Gregory Meeks had dinner with Farrakhan and Iranian leader President Hassan Rouhani.

You can briefly spot Ellison about five feet away from Farrakhan in this video:

Ellison vehemently denies ever being at the private meeting or having dinner with Farrakhan and Rouhani.

Although the Democratic National Committee co-chair denounced Farrakhan’s views, he said that he did have “some things” to offer back in the 1990s.

Michael Ahrens (@michael_ahrens) with GOP.com, tweeted late Sunday evening:

“In 1993, Farrakhan told women: “You’re a failure if you can’t keep a man.” In 1994, Farrakhan said: “Murder and lying comes easy for white people.” All this came *before* Ellison praised him as “a role model” in 1995, and was photographed selling Farrakhan’s newspaper in 1998.”

“I absolutely, unqualifiedly denounce and reject the views of Louis Farrakhan. I’ve said that many, many years ago,” Ellison stated. “Look, in the early 1990s, Louis Farrakhan was a person speaking the issues of African-American civil rights. At that time he had some things, I thought, he had to offer. He made it very clear in the early 90s that his views and mine were absolutely incompatible, and I’ve been saying that ever since.”
