Incoming Congresswoman Tweets Support For Terminated CNN Employee Who Called for Destruction of Israel

An incoming Democratic congresswoman from Michigan has Tweeted twice in support of terminated CNN pundit Marc Lamont Hill, who was fired after he used a phrase commonly used when calling for the destruction of Israel.

“Calling out the oppressive policies in Israel, advocating for Palestinians to be respected, and for Israelis and Palestinians alike to have peace and freedom is not antisemitic,” said Rashida Tlaib on Twitter. “, we all have a right to speak up about injustice any and everywhere.

Except Hill did not simply advocate for “Palestinians to be respected.” He said that justice for Palestine a “free Palestine from the river to the sea,” which is a slogan used by anti-Semites, including terrorist organization, to call for the complete destruction of Israel.

He also advocated for violence as a method by which Palestine could assert its independence.

“Contrary to western mythology, black resistance to American apartheid did not come purely through Ghandi and nonviolence,” Hill said. “Rather, slave revolts and self-defense and tactics otherwise divergent from Dr. King or Mahatma Gandhi were equally important to preserving safety and attaining freedom. If we are to operate in true solidarity with the Palestinian people, we must allow the Palestinian people the same range of opportunity and political possibility.”

Tlaib also retweeted a petition shared by the Young Turks’ Ryan Grim calling for Hill to be reinstated at CNN.

This behavior is par for the course for Tlaib, who draped herself in a Palestinian flag upon winning her seat in Congress. She one of many seemingly anti-Semitic incoming Democratic congresswomen, alongside Ihan Omar from Minnesota, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez from New York.
