Democrat Tulsi Gabbard ‘Seriously Considering’ 2020 Presidential Run
A Democratic member of the House of Representatives from Hawaii said on MSNBC’s “Hard Ball” with Chris Matthews Wednesday that she is thinking of joining what looks to be a crowded field of potential 2020 Democratic presidential candidates.
“I’m seriously considering [it],” Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) said when asked is she was planning a White House bid. “I’m thinking through it very carefully.”
Gabbard added that she was “concerned about the direction of our country.”
The Hawaiian House Rep served in a field medical unit in a combat zone in Iraq as a member of the Hawaii Army National Guard from 2004 to 2005.

Gabbard joins a long list of Democrats who are rumored to be 2020 candidates. Wednesday morning, former Obama administration Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Julian Castro formed an exploratory committee, the first formal step towards running for president. Castro was also the mayor of San Antonio from 2009 to 2014.
Others rumored to be in the mix are former Vice President Joe Biden, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), and failed U.S. Senate candidate Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke, a State Representative from Texas. Those three have topped very early polls among Democratic voters. O’Rourke met with former president Barack H. Obama in November.
Other rumored candidates include Sens. Cory Booker (D-N.J.), Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and the ever-pervasive Hillary R. Clinton.
