EAT IT: Chris Christie Loses The Weight of Being A Chief of Staff Candidate

Chris Christie will not be the White House chief of staff. The former New Jersey governor met with President Donald Trump, but it is now reported that he is not in contention for the job.

Christie famously blundered his gig as Trump’s transition chief, lazily picking NeverTrump candidates for job openings and not doing the required work to make the transition go smoothly. His incompetence helped pave the way for Reince Priebus staffing pretty much the entire administration, which has resulted in Trump’s actual supporters being largely hated by the administration that they support.

Also, Christie’s guy Bill Stepien has been President Trump’s political director, guiding the Republicans to a midterm House loss.

The Hill reports: “It’s an honor to have the President consider me as he looks to choose a new White House chief-of-staff,” Christie wrote in a statement shared by Maggie Haberman of the New York Times on Friday. “However, I’ve told the President that now is not the right time for me or my family to undertake this serious assignment. As a result, I have asked not to be considered for this post.”
