‘Reign of Terror:’ Rep. Devin Nunes Interviews Sheriff After Twice-Deported Illegal Commits Four Shootings, A Robbery, Two Police Chases, Two Police Shootouts, Automobile Theft in 24 Hours

Tulare County, Calif. Sheriff Mike Boudreaux joined Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) on Nunes’ podcast Wednesday to discuss a twice-deported illegal immigrant who went on a shooting rampage in Nunes’ district.

“So now we know that the man who was involved in the robbery, the shooting of the [migrant] field worker, the armed robbery in Pixley, as well as the shooting in Tulare are all the same man,” Boudreaux told Nunes.

Pixley is a town in Tulare county. The crime spree took place in several different towns within the county just before Christmas.

The suspect, illegal alien Gustavo Garcia, also shot a woman at a hotel at random. The crimes were committed at random in what the Sheriff called a “reign of terror.” All of the crimes took place in a matter of 24 hours.

Shortly thereafter, a man was shot and killed in a neighboring town in the county. Police suspect Garcia was involved in that homicide. Soon, police caught up with Garcia and chased him, resulting in a shootout. After the suspect evaded the police, he shot and killed a man at random.

When the police finally caught up with Garcia again, they engaged in yet another shootout. Boudreaux said at least 40-50 rounds were fired. This exchange culminated in Garcia stealing the vehicle of migrant workers and leading the police on yet another chase.

Garcia eventually crashed headfirst into oncoming traffic. He died in the accident. Fortunately, no one else in the crash was killed though one man was severely injured.

The Sheriff confirmed for Nunes that Garcia was known to police and had been deported twice previously. He had been in custody after committing a misdemeanor, but California law protects suspects from immigration status checks if they have only committed a misdemeanor. Thus, Garcia was allowed to go free.

“This is where it gets really frustrating for law enforcement, and I appreciate you bringing some attention to this,” Boudreaux said. “We – the day before [the rampage] – had Gustavo Garcia in our custody on what’s called ‘under the influence of a controlled substance.’ One of our officers had arrested him right off the street for a misdemeanor under the influence of drugs.”

The Sheriff continued to explain that since Garcia sis not have a warrant for his arrest with a large bail, he could not be held under California law. He also explained that when Garcia was arrested for the misdemeanor, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) sent the Sheriff’s office a detainer for Garcia, which was blocked because the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals determined that ICE detainers were unconstitutional.

Garcia’s final tally of barbaric behavior includes: One robbery, four shootings (resulting in at least one, but possibly two homicides), two high-speed chases, two police shootouts, one stolen vehicle and a major crash on a crowded highway.

All of this could have been avoided, but innocent lives were lost because of California’s immigration laws are utterly insane. Once again, the cost of social justice is the lives of Americans.

Worth noting: the mainstream press has not cover Garcia’s rampage.
