Trump Trolls Obamas Over Wall Around D.C. Home

President Donald J. Trump took to Twitter Sunday to prod Barack and Michelle Obama and make a point about border security.

“President and Mrs. Obama built/has a ten foot Wall around their D.C. mansion/compound. I agree, totally necessary for their safety and security. The U.S. needs the same thing, slightly larger version!” Trump said.

Trump echoed a common argument made by supporters of a wall on the southern border. If the elites of the world use walls to shield their private abodes from the riff-raff, why shouldn’t ordinary Americans have a wall to protect them from illegal aliens and potential undesirables?

The Tweet comes during an epic showdown between Trump and Congressional Democrats, who will not agree to a $5 billion dollar budget stipulation that would fund a border wall, despite past calls for a similar structure when it was politically expedient.

Trump has vowed to go to extreme lengths to get the wall built.

“Whatever it takes. We need a wall,” Trump told reporters Wednesday, referring to the government shutdown. “We need safety for our country.”

“We are putting America first for the first time in a long time,” he continued.

A partial government shutdown has been in effect for nine days, during which “non-essential” government personnel have been furloughed. Questions remain unanswered about what will happen if a solution is not reached by Jan 3. when the 116th Congress, with a House of Representatives controlled by Democrats, is sworn in.
