PragerU Files Another Lawsuit With Google For Violating State Law #GreatAwakening
Google is being sued for censorship of conservative views -- again.
Conservative nonprofit PragerU, which has an extensive following on YouTube, has filed a second lawsuit against Google for continually putting their videos in “restricted” mode. The lawsuit, according to the Daily Caller, states that YouTube and Google have been “violating state law” in California. By placing the videos in restricted mode, schools, libraries and public institutions are unable to access PragerU’s content.
The lawsuit argues that YouTube is restricting PragerU’s freedom of speech, discriminating against PragerU religiously, violating competition laws, and breach of contract for going against its own terms of service. More than 80 videos were placed in restricted mode, according to a tweet from the organization.
YouTube has also marked some of PragerU’s videos as “dangerous or derogatory content,” a move that prevents PragerU from promoting or advertising its videos. One video, called “Illegal Immigration: It’s About Power,” hosted by Tucker Carlson, was “mistakenly” marked as “dangerous.”
PragerU previously lost a lawsuit against Google for the same reasons. That case is currently being appealed in front of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Google had filed a statement in response to the challenge, saying that any form of government regulation of Google would have “disastrous practical consequences.”
Google has also stated that it “can’t be forced to change.” Dennis Prager, founder of PragerU, has said that “If Google, the owner of YouTube, would announce it is a left-wing advocacy group, that would make a lawsuit harder to defend.”
