President Trump’s Fight Against Fentanyl Takes On New Resonance After California Mass Overdose
President Donald Trump’s battle to stop Fentanyl from spreading in the United States takes on new meaning in the aftermath of this weekend’s mass fentanyl overdose in California.
One person died and 12 people were hospitalized in the mass overdose.
President Trump has made stopping fentanyl a top priority in his negotiations with China.
“Very importantly, President Xi, in a wonderful humanitarian gesture, has agreed to designate Fentanyl as a Controlled Substance, meaning that people selling Fentanyl to the United States will be subject to China’s maximum penalty under the law,” White House press secretary Sarah Sanders recently stated.
President Trump brought up fentanyl at the beginning of his remarks at his working dinner with China’s leader Xi.
