Second Black Man Dies in Home of Huge Democratic Donor

A second young black man has been found dead in the home of huge Democratic party donor Ed Buck, the second in 18 months.

“The man died in Buck’s Laurel Avenue apartment between midnight and 2 a.m., Buck’s attorney, Seymour Amster,” said according to Los Angeles Times. His name has not been released.

Amster reportedly said that the man died of an accidental overdose in Buck’s West Hollywood home, but was intoxicated before arriving at Buck’s.

“Buck previously was investigated for the death of another young man of color in his apartment — the 2017 overdose of Gemmel Moore, 26,” the report said. “Moore died of a methamphetamine overdose in Buck’s apartment in July 2017, according to a Los Angeles County coroner’s report. Paramedics found him naked on a mattress in the living room, which was littered with drug paraphernalia,” according to the report.

Moore’s mother questioned whether Buck’s position of power within the elite sphere of the Democratic party kept him out 0f legal trouble. A homicide investigation was opened, but charges were not filed as authorities cited lack of evidence.

Police recovered a journal among Moore’s possessions after his death, in which he wrote about his drug use at the hands of Buck.

“I’ve become addicted to drugs and the worst one at that,” Moore reportedly wrote. “Ed Buck is the one to thank, he gave me my first injection of chrystal [sic] meth. I just hope the end result isn’t death…. If it didn’t hurt so bad I’d kill myself but I’ll let Ed Buck do it for now.”

Since at least 2011, Buck, a retired model, actor, businessman has donated thousands of dollars to Democratic candidates and PACs. He donated to Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.), Rep. Jacky Rosen (D-Calif.), Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.), Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, also a Democrat.
