This development is the strongest indication yet that Chicago Police will seek to press Smollett with criminal charges for orchestrating the hate hoax, in which he claimed he was attacked by Trump supporters who racially and verbally abused him.
In reality, investigators now believe that Smollett paid two Nigerian brothers $3,500 to stage the fake attack on him.
Criminal charges may be coming later today, and Big League Politics will continue to monitor the situation.
