WATCH: Kamala Harris Pulls A Hillary, Speechless When Asked About Her Smollett ‘Modern Day Lynching’ Remark
Kamala Harris was completely caught off guard when asked by a reporter about ‘Empire’ actor Jussie Smollett’s alleged hate hoax, after she called it a “modern day lynching” prior to Chicago police expressing doubt in the truthfulness of Smollett’s narrative.
Harris was questioned by media about whether she was too hasty regarding her remarks on the alleged hate crime hoax perpetrated by Smollett now that police have cast serious doubts on Smollett’s version of events.
On Twitter, the Democrat presidential candidate previously called the attack on Smollett “an attempted modern day lynching,” adding “we must confront this hate.” A Fox News reporter asked Harris whether she regretted the tweet, catching Harris off guard.

“Which tweet? What tweet?” Harris asked in response to the question. When the reporter started to clarify her question, Harris looked toward her campaign staff and laughed awkwardly.
Harris then elaborated with a rambling answer, “So I will say this about that case: I think that the facts are still unfolding, and I’m very concerned about obviously,” interrupting herself with several pauses and stammers before trailing off.
While Harris’s excuse of “the facts are still unfolding” may have been good enough for Fox News, it is worth noting that she first tweeted about the alleged hate crime only hours after it happened.
.@JussieSmollett is one of the kindest, most gentle human beings I know. I’m praying for his quick recovery.
This was an attempted modern day lynching. No one should have to fear for their life because of their sexuality or color of their skin. We must confront this hate.

Smollett, an actor on the TV show ‘Empire’, claimed that he was beaten and attacked with bleach and a rope by two white men wearing Make America Great Again hats. Smollett refused to give police his cell phone, which could have proven his series of events, and refused further contact with the police.
After investigating, the Chicago Police Department revealed it believes the crime to be a hoax perpetuated by Smollett to persuade the producers of ‘Empire’ to keep his character in the show.
According to a Fox News reporter, “Empire” star Jussie Smollett is no longer considered a victim in what he alleged was a hate crime orchestrated against him by Trump supporters.
“CPD Spox: Jussie Smollett is no longer considered a victim in this case,” said Mike Tobin on Twitter.
Originally, Smollett claimed that he was attacked in the early morning by racist and homophobic Trump supporters who yelled slurs and “This is MAGA country” while they tied a rope around his neck, beat him, and poured bleach on him. Saturday, Chicago Police confirmed that his alleged “attackers” two Nigerian friends of Smollett’s, both extras on “Empire,” purchased the rope. There are unconfirmed reports that Smollett paid them to perpetrate the hoax.
While these facts already persuaded Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to delete her tweet decrying the fictional hate crime, Harris appears to be doubling down.
