At least eight people were injured in a Friday “parcel bomb” attack in Lyon, France, according to multiple sources.
“The explosion happened near Rue Victor Hugo and Sala Street in the third largest city of France, about 300 miles southeast of Paris, according to the national police,” NBC said.
French president Emmanuel Macron described the incident as an “attack,” but provided no further details.
Lyon is France’s third-largest city.
EuroNews spoke with Canadian travel writer Kathy Buckworth, who is currently in Lyon.
“I was a block away and I heard it. They locked us in the store. I came out 10 minutes later and the police etc were arriving,” she reportedly said.
She described the explosion as “like a bomb, extremely loud.”
No motive or perpetrator has been identified.
