Worried MSNBC Slimes Cubans as Dupes ‘Susceptible' to ‘Propaganda’ on Socialism #Political
As Florida turned sour for the Democrats and Joe Biden on election night, worry crept in at MSNBC. Al Sharpton slimed Cuban voters as dupes who are susceptible to “propaganda.” Nicolle Wallace fretted that the liberal network’s viewers might be heading to the “liquor cabinet.”
At 8:55 PM ET, Al Sharpton smeared, “We don't have the same dynamics that we have in Florida where you have like in Miami-Dade. I think as Joy pointed out a large Cuban influence in terms of Cuban voters who look more to the propaganda that we're dealing with socialism and all that offset a large black turnout.”
Pretty early in the night, at 8:07 PM ET, Wallace worried about viewer drinking over Florida: “You can feel the hopes and the dreams of our viewers falling down and you can hear liquor cabinets opening all across this great land.” She also downplayed the state’s importance: “But Florida was not a state the Biden campaign was counting on. Florida was not a state essential to a Biden win.”
On the Peacock live stream of Morning Joe, a glum Joe Scarborough mocked the Florida Democratic Party:
This is another reminder: Blocking and tackling matters. And let’s just be really blunt about it. I want to underline what Dave said a few minutes ago. The Republican Party’s organization in Florida has been stellar for 25 years. They don’t lose state wide races often. The Florida Democratic Party does not have a lot of wins under their belt. Organization and the basic blocking and tackling of politics still matters and boy we saw it tonight. One of the reasons Donald Trump is doing so well in Miami Dade is because he invested and the Republican party invested early and often in Miami Dade and we’re seeing the results of that work tonight.
Donny Deutsch on the same live stream lamented that Biden hadn’t already won.
I think what we’re learning tonight is that Florida is its own universe. That Florida is a red state. And the whole story is Miami Dade county. But look, I think there were a lot of Democrats, including myself that were hoping this would be a quick put away and that, at this point, we were going to be declaring victory. Clearly That’s not going to be the case. I think there’s a lot of nervousness out there.

8:49G. ELLIOTT MORRIS (Data journalist and elections expert for the Economist): Well, there’s no great way, I think, to spin this for Democrats or, really, for pollsters. I mean, we are looking at a three or four point under performing for Democrats right now in North Carolina, Georgia and Florida.
