Pundit Alleges @TwitterArabs Account ‘Blocks All LGBTQ Accounts’ #Political

It’s a diversity versus diversity matchup for the ages! An official Twitter account to represent Twitter’s Arabic employees has caught heat for allegedly blocking LGBTQ-related content.

The verified account “@TwitterArabs” has been allegedly blocking LGBTQ community users. Twitter verified pundit and Senior Fellow at the Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies Abhijit Iyer-Mitra explained: “So @Twitter subsidiary @TwitterArabs blocks all LGBTQ accounts. And these smelly twats in Palo Alto actually ban accounts for vaguely defined ‘hate speech’ 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾.” The official Twitter Arabs account has acknowledged that certain accounts were being blocked but has not yet addressed Iyer-Mitra’s specific allegation:

“We are aware of a system error that is leading to mass blockage of accounts that are interacting with us. We apologize for the inconvenience and are working on resolving this issue as soon as possible.”

It is unclear whether blocking people based on their sexual preference is a terms of service violation. But allegations that Twitter allowed the Twitter Arabs account to silence LGBT accounts could be a PR disaster. Twitter’s hateful conduct rules state, “You may not promote violence against, threaten, or harass other people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, caste, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability, or serious disease. Learn more.”

As of the writing of this article, Twitter has not responded to the Media Research Center’s request for a statement.

Twitter has a grim history of cracking down on content to pander to various identity groups.

Twitter is infamous for preventing its users from observing biological facts. The company banned feminist Meghan Murphy for citing a scientific fact about the differences between men and women. She had referred to a transgender person as “a man,” and accused that same person of “extortion for filing complaints against estheticians who refused to perform a Brazilian wax” on the transgender person’s genital area, The Mercury News reported Feb. 16.

Murphy filed her lawsuit against Twitter on Feb. 11, 2019. Murphy had been permanently banned in November 2018 for saying that “women aren’t men tho.” In a YouTube video, she explained that “Twitter has begun silencing individuals and political views they don’t want heard.”

Twitter also joined Amazon in cracking down on a book that criticized transgender ideology. President of the Ethics and Public Policy Center Ryan T. Anderson, Ph.D., stated that Twitter was “now reporting the cover of my book,” When Harry Became Sally: Responding to the Transgender Moment, as “‘potentially sensitive content.’” Anderson expressed grim humor at how multiple tech companies could restrict his book simultaneously: “I’m sure Amazon, Apple, and Twitter—it’s all just a coincidence!”

Conservatives are under attack. Contact Twitter at (415) 222-9670 and demand that Big Tech be held to account to mirror the First Amendment while providing transparency, clarity on “hate speech” and equal footing for conservatives. If you have been censored, contact us at the Media Research Center contact form, and help us hold Big Tech accountable.
