Mark Ruffalo Walks Back Israel ‘Genocide’ Comments, Receives Backlash #Political

After joining the pro-Hamas bandwagon with his other woke celebrity friends, Mark Ruffalo walked back his very public comments on the Israel-Palestine conflict with an apology.

The incredibly lefty “Hulk” actor issued an apology to Twitter on May 24 for his earlier claims of “genocide” on the part of the Israeli government. He tweeted “I have reflected & wanted to apologize for posts during the recent Israel/Hamas fighting that suggested Israel is committing ‘genocide.’”

That “genocide” slander is a typical talking point of the anti-Zionist (or anti-Semitic -- it’s hard to tell these days), “free Palestine” movement. Ruffalo said that saying so is “not accurate, it’s inflammatory, disrespectful & is being used to justify antisemitism here & abroad.” As if to admit his previous tweets may have been destructive in their exaggerated style, or taken too literally, he concluded by stating “Now is the time to avoid hyperbole.”

Bravo.

Ruffalo’s regretful acknowledgement comes weeks after openly taking sides with Palestine and condemning Israel for the recent violent episode. Of course, Hamas, the terrorist organization running Gaza, initiated the eleven day clash after launching long-range rockets towards residential areas.

On May 15, during the ongoing fighting, Ruffalo tweeted calling for “sanctions on Israel to free Palestinians” with dramatic flair. He regurgitated Hamas propaganda, tweeting , “Over 30 children were killed. Mothers dead. Hundreds injured. We are on the brink of a full-scale war.” Ruffalo then compared Israel to an apartheid state by referencing South Africa, saying “Sanctions on South Africa helped free its Black people - it’s time for sanctions on Israel to free Palestinians.” His ignorant, virtue-signaling comments continued in the following days.

Clearly, the recent instances of vicious anti-Semitic attacks around the country led Ruffalo to rethink his remarks. And maybe some of his more clear-headed celebrity friends talked to him. A few Democratic leaders have condemned rising anti-Semitism. Democrat Representative for Minnesota Dean Philips tweeted “I’ll say the quiet part out loud; it’s time for “progressives” to start condemning anti-Semitism and violent attacks on Jewish people with the same intention and vigor demonstrated in other areas of activism. The silence has been deafening.”

Interestingly, Ruffalo classified the combatants as being Israel and Hamas in his apology. The Avengers star calling out Hamas is a little too late and has been met with backlash from social media users across the internet. One such blue check by the name of “hasanabithehun” lobbed a bitter response to Ruffalo’s more diplomatic statements telling him to “tell the families of the 200+ murdered Palestinians in Gaza that were declared enemy combatants in the latest IDF propaganda that their occupiers aren’t actually committing ethnic cleansing when they “mowed the lawn” last week.”

Truth doesn’t go down well with Ruffalo’s usual fans.
