NewsBusters Podcast: Oscar Bait and Media 'Amplifying Hate' #Political
Sunday night's Oscars show in Hollywood had some fun with CNN morning host Don Lemon, with Best Actress winner Michelle Yeoh telling women "never let them say you're past your prime." Naturally, CNN skipped any mention of that on Monday morning.
But the Best Picture nominees are always so tremendously serious. From Tar to The Banshees of Inisherin, arty films with low box-office receipts can only hope an Oscar nomination will lead someone to watch them. Everyone Everywhere All at Once was deeply weird, but also funny, profane, and packed with martial-arts action.
Meanwhile, in Austin, the South by Southwest Conference hosted several media panel discussions with a leftist tilt. Ex-CNN host Brian Stelter led a panel about how to fix the media that are "amplifying hate" (let's guess that's an indictment of Fox). It included representatives of leftist censorship lobbies like Color of Change and the Anti-Defamation League. Another panel (which included MSNBC's Trymaine Lee) was dedicated to creating an "antiracist newsroom."
