The View Whines Video of Violent Pretti Is Being ‘Weaponized,’ ‘Fear’ it Helps ICE #Political

Following the surfacing of additional video of leftist agitator Alex Pretti getting violent with ICE by destroying a tail light and spitting at them, the liberal ladies of ABC’s The View weren’t happy. On Thursday’s episode, moderator Whoopi Goldberg whined that it was being “weaponized” while co-hosts Sara Haines and Alyssa Farah Griffin suggested it didn’t help ICE in any way. However, co-host Sunny Hostin was concerned that it was enough for ICE agents to mount an effective self-defense claim.

Despite admitting that Pretti’s parents confirmed that it was indeed their son in the video, Goldberg prefaced their discussion by saying the video “appears to show him confronting federal agents and kicking out a taillight.”

Goldberg proceeded to moan about how supporters of ICE “were waiting for something like this to happen. So, they claim this destroys the narrative that he was a peaceful protester!”

After playing a couple of soundbites of Democratic politicians trying to downplay the video, Goldberg wondered aloud: “So is this video going to continue to be weaponized against Pretti and other protesters?”

Haines piped up first. According to her, you weren’t using your brain or being honest if you thought the video bore weight on anything:

I think if you used your brain you recognized that not only did it happen 11 days prior, but no one deserved to be shot at all let alone ten times. So, I don't think this video changes anything if you're being honest with yourself and not just putting on a narrative or a journey -- or a Jersey, excuse me.

After attacking ICE agents as video-game-playing children with underdeveloped brains the previous day, Farah Griffin suggested that the video didn’t help ICE at all, but in fact hurt their argument:

Well and to me, this new footage doesn't in any way change the fundamental facts of the case. If anything it actually shows that Alex Pretti could be immobilized by law enforcement without having to shoot him ten times.

“There is nothing in the second video that we’ve now seen that justifies his killing 11 days later. There's nothing there,” Hostin agreed, following a commercial break.

But Hostin was concerned that the video evidence of Pretti being a violent agitator was enough for the ICE agents to mount a convincing self-defense argument. She even seemed to rhetorically scoff at the notion of law enforcement officers fearing for their lives:

HOSTIN: But my concern is now this video provides those two officers who we saw shoot him ten times with a self-defense claim.

HAINES: But did they put together that is the same person?

HOSTIN: Well, he's wearing some of the same exact clothes.

[Crosstalk]

HOSTIN: So, the argument could be, you know, ‘we know who this was, he was an aggressive person, he destroyed property -

GOLDBERG: And that's why they shot and killed him with 11 shots?

HOSTIN: ‘-and now we see he has a gun. We feared for our lives.’ You know, you always hear that with law enforcement, ‘We fear for our lives, and that's why we shot him.’

Since Hostin was a former federal prosecutor, it should be concerning that she didn’t want to follow the facts and wanted to stick to her preconceived notion.

Co-host Ana Navarro didn’t really address the new video directly during Thursday’s show. But a couple days prior, during an appearance on CNN NewsNight, she boasted about how Pretti was the “perfect guy” who “you would want to date your daughter”:

They killed the wrong guy. Right? Because this is the -- this is like the perfect guy. Alex Pretti is the guy you would want to date your daughter. The guy you’d want your son to grow up to be. A decent human being who was serving humanity, serving sick veterans, who is - you know, there is nothing that has been said about that man that isn't wonderful.

In other comments about his character that didn’t age well, Navarro proclaimed: “And so they can't malign him. They can't malign him because we have the videos…”

And so they can't malign him. They can't malign him because we have the videos, so they can't say he's a would be assassin. And people believe him. They can't say, as they said, that he was there to commit a massacre. People realize they are being lied to and they will not be lied to a second time. The way they were lied to about Renee Good.

WHOOPI GOLDBERG: So, let's tell you what's been going on. A representative of the parents of Alex Pretti confirmed that it’s their son in the new video from 11 days ago. 11 days before he was shot and killed. That appears to show him confronting federal agents and kicking out a taillight.

And you-know-who and the others, baby, they were waiting for something like this to happen. So, they claim this destroys the narrative that he was a peaceful protester! Again, this was 11 days before they shot him ten times. Okay. And while Democrats like Senator Elissa Slotkin and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey are trying to keep things in perspective.

ALYSSA FARAH GRIFFIN: Well and to me, this new footage doesn't in any way change the fundamental facts of the case. If anything it actually shows that Alex Pretti could be immobilized by law enforcement without having to shoot him ten times.

It's not a good thing to kick out the light of a law enforcement vehicle. I don't agree with spitting on law enforcement. But his personality, his decisions are not germane to the fact that 11 days later for a completely different altercation he was shot ten times after his weapon was removed from him.

SUNNY HOSTIN: There is nothing in the second video that we’ve now seen that justifies his killing 11 days later. There's nothing there. What is concerning to me is that when you see him kick out that light, that is destruction of federal property and that is a crime.

GOLDBERG: Yes.

HOSTIN: That you can be arrested for.

GOLDBERG: Yes.

HOSTIN: My understanding is what these agents have been doing is, they have been videotaping the protesters and the observers and they have been running their faces, doing facial recognition and they have been getting their addresses and they've been sharing that information with other agents. So my concern is now --

GOLDBERG: Allegedly.

HOSTIN: -- Allegedly. But my concern is now this video provides those two officers who we saw shoot him ten times with a self-defense claim.

HAINES: But did they put together that is the same person?
