FNC Highlights Elderly Woman With Gun Who Fought Off Home Invader

So far, FNC is the only national network to highlight a recent story about an elderly Philadelphia woman, Maxine Thompson, who used a gun to fight off a burglar who was trying to break into her home and refused a warning to go away. It's just the kind of story that the public should hear about more often to counteract the liberal narrative that guns are used primarily to commit crimes when, in fact, many Americans benefit from guns used to fight off criminals.

At 6:40 a.m. Eastern, Fox and Friends news reader Jillian Mele set up the story: "A 70-year-old grandmother takes matters into her own hands and shoots a man breaking into her home. Maxine Thompson grabbing her gun when she heard the crook shatter her window in Philadelphia."

Then came a clip of Thompson discussing the attempted break-in: "Kill him before he kills me -- that's what was going through my mind. I hope I taught him and the rest of them a lesson: Stay the hell out of people's house."

Mele added: "Thompson is the mother of a police officer and had never fired a gun before. The suspect is under arrest and in the hospital."

Although many such events happen, as evidenced by websites like concealedamerica.com and selfdefensegunstories.com, the dominant national media rarely give any attention to them. In February, FNC notably joined ABC in highlighting video of two women who used guns to fight off an armed robbery at a convenience store.

In late March, there was also video of a woman in Miami Gardens, Florida, who used to shotgun to chase off a man who was trying to break through her door in the daytime, defending her home and her children, which did not get receive national attention. Other examples of people using guns to fight against criminals over the past month include:

A woman in Raleigh with a concealed carry permit who had just recently bought a gun using it to fight back against a man who was trying to rob her on the street.

In Tucson, a man with a hatchet tried to steal a woman's car in the parking lot of a grocery store, but she shot him instead.

In Memphis, Tennessee, a restaurant delivery driver fended off three armed men who tried to steal his vehicle:

A man in Orlando with a concealed carry permit stopped a man from stealing his car.

A woman used a gun to save the life of her boyfriend during a home invasion in which a man with a shotgun broke in to kill him in Gaffney, South Carolina.

In Knightdale, North Carolina, a robbery of a convenience store was prevented.

A home invasion by two men was fought off in Raleigh.

In St. Louis, a man entered a home and shot a man in the back during an attempted robbery, but the gunman was injured and ran away when one of the victims shot back
