Archbishop Viganò Issues 2nd Urgent Letter to Pope Francis
In a second thoughtful letter to Pope Francis dated September 29, the Feast Day of St. Michael, Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, still in hiding, confirms the truth of his first letter. He asks Pope Francis, who has not responded to the first letter, to "bear responsibility for covering up the crimes committed" by former Archbishop McCaririck of Washington DC.
Viganò maintains that the Pope knew "how perverse and evil McCarrick was in his intentions and actions." Viganò has noted that Francis nonetheless promoted McCarrick, spurning sanctions Pope Benedict had placed on McCarrick.
Viganò also issues a special appeal to Cardinal Marc Ouellet, former Archbishop of Quebec: "You have at your complete disposal key documents incriminating McCarrick and many in the curia for their cover-ups." Viganò writes: “I urge you to be a witness to the truth.”
Lastly, Viganò tells the faithful "not to be despondent." Viganò tells the faithful that Christ will protect the Church through this turbulent time just as Jesus protected the apostles during the trubulent storm (Mark 4: 38-40).
Viganò ends his letter with these words: "This is a time of repentance, of conversion, of prayers, of grace, to prepare the Church, the bride of the Lamb, ready to fight and win with Mary the battle against the old dragon."
