MEDIA BLACKOUT: Meet Robert Francis ‘Beto’ O’Rourke’s Billionaire Father-In-Law
In the “flew under the radar” category of the 2018 midterm election cycle is the fact that Democrat U.S. Senate candidate Robert Francis ‘Beto’ O’Rourke has a billionaire father-in-law.
“Young Beto O’Rourke casts himself as the ‘anti-Trump’. But his father-in-law, it turns out, is a billionaire property developer with a contentious relationship with non-white residents — not unlike the President. Beto’s more the proto-Jared Kushner,” said the Spectator.
Indeed, O’Rourke has billed himself as something of a grassroots-built populist. He brags about going to high school in El Paso, Texas, though he only did one year there before transferring to one of the most expensive boarding schools in America. He speaks Spanish, and gave himself a Latino nickname in order to better relate with the Hispanic constituency in Texas. But the fraud is much deeper than that.
“The New York Times today revealed the highly interesting news that friend-of-the-little-guy Beto married well,” Spectator said. “Very well. His wife is not only the daughter of William D. Sanders, aka the Warren Buffet of real estate, Cockburn can reveal she is the only daughter. Sanders’s portfolio is valued at about $20 billion.”

The leftwing media, understanding that “billionaire heir” was not the image O’Rourke was looking for, predictably ran cover for him.
According to Spectator:
A Yahoo profile of O’Rourke described how he ‘married Amy Sanders, a charter school administrator,’ and served on the City Council ‘championing downtown redevelopment.’ But the reporter didn’t bother to look into who Sanders’s father was.
Neither did this Guardian piece.
Or this Washington Post one.
Nor this one in Vanity Fair.
TIME magazine were agog as the congressman cooed, ‘I just want to be as raw and direct and real as I can — and it seems to be working.’
Naturally, O’Rourke echoes the typical leftist talking points on taxing the wealthy.
“Beto believes we need an economy that works for everyone. That means achieving a tax code that is written for working people and families, not just corporations and the wealthiest Americans,” his campaign site says.
Sounds like bad news for his father-in-law.
