BIG: Mueller Declines to Recommend Prison Time for General Michael Flynn
Special Counsel Robert Mueller declined to recommend prison time for General Michael Flynn in court proceedings on Tuesday.
The former Army Lieutenant General and brief White House National Security Advisor had been cooperating with prosecutors, pleading guilty to a singular charge of lying to the FBI in an interview related to the agency’s investigation of the supposed 2016 Russian election hack.
Flynn has never been demonstrated as having committed crimes unrelated to the initial FBI investigation of alleged “Russian meddling” that was in place before Mueller was appointed. The single technicality he’s facing charges for, is a result of the investigation, not a root cause of it.
It’s possible now that Flynn’s attorneys will file a motion to dismiss the charges entirely, with an understanding that the Special Counsel’s office will sign off on the motion. If they’re successful in doing so, it would represent a form of complete vindication for the retired military officer.

Flynn became prominent as the author of “Field of Fight,” a book on national security strategy on radical Islam, and for his endorsement and support of Donald Trump in the 2016 election.
The following statement was attributed to the Special Counsel’s Office in declining to recommend prison time for Flynn:
“Given the defendant’s substantial assistance and other considerations set forth below, a sentence at the low end of the guideline range—including a sentence that does not impose a term of incarceration—is appropriate and warranted.”
A vindication for Flynn would also represent an embarrassing defeat for the Deep State’s efforts to use illegally-obtained transcripts of phone calls in order to criminally implicate him.
Flynn had been “unmasked” by anonymous figures within to U.S “intelligence community” seeking to push him out of his role as National Security Advisor. That entailed anonymously leaking a transcript of a surveilled conversation between Flynn and Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak.
