France's Oldest Christmas Market Becomes Site of Terror Attack


France Strasbourg ChristmasMarket 800x530France has been hit by yet another attack. This time in the historic French city of Strasbourg near the German border.

The Strasbourg Christmas Market, the oldest and often considered the most beautiful in France, became the site of the shooting death of at least three people Tuesday (Dec. 12) night (CEST). 

Apparently the gunman was able to bypass security filters around the market, enter, and open fire at multiple locations. 

According to the Associated Press, one of those murdered was a tourist from Thailand. A bystander said it took "more than 45 minutes for an ambulance to arrive."

Breitbart News reports that 12 people have been injured. People in the vincinity of the shootings have been traumatized and are in shock. 

Christophe Castaner, France’s Interior Minister, says the gunman "sowed terror."

Emmanuel Macron, the beleaguered President of the French Republic, tweeted (Dec. 11): "Solidarity of the whole Nation for Strasbourg, our victims and their families."

AP reports that a terrorism investigation has been opened but "the motive for the attack is unclear."
