#NeverTrump John Podhoretz Roots for Stock Market Crash to Spite Trump
Wednesday, a member of the old guard GOP establishment — left behind by ordinary Americans after failing to conserve anything during a half-century of power — openly rooted for a stock market crash – which would surely crush those same ordinary Americans – so that President Donald J. Trump would be impeached.
“How many people’s hearts sank when they saw the Dow went up 1,000 points because they really hoped Trump had plunged us into a bear market that would cause GOP legislators to turn on him and support removal after impeachment?” said John Podhoretz.

Podhoretz was a contributing editor at the failed Weekly Standard, which #NeverTrump’d itself to death. Having learned nothing from the demise of that pompous, out-of-touch rag, he continues to fight on behalf of the elite D.C. establishment against the interests of ordinary Republican voters.
His Tweet came in response to the DOW’s record Wednesday. The market closed up 1085 points after a dismal Christmas Eve performance which had Democrats and #NeverTrump “Republicans” giddy over the potential to knock the President. The pathetic losers have been waiting for two years with bated breath, ignoring hundreds of stock market records during the Trump presidency (a demonstrably good outcome for ordinary Americans) for a market downturn that could sway public opinion of Trump.
Thursday, the DOW climbed another 600 points.
Given that control of the House of Representatives will be turned over to Democrats on Jan. 3, it is possible that Trump will be successfully impeached by the lower chamber of Congress. But for Trump to be removed from office, two-thirds of the Senate would have to vote for his impeachment. About 20 Senate Republicans would have to turn on the President.
Podhoretz and his elitist GOP ilk will continue rooting for a market crash to serve their ultimate end: spiting the will of the ordinary Republican voters who overtly and handily rejected their 16 candidates in the 2016 Republican primary in favor of a political outsider. Egos bruised, former GOP influencers like Podhoretz still have not recovered from their embarrassing fall from grace.
