WATCH: Teacher Says Retweeting PewDiePie Can Get Students Sued

A high school student claims his history teacher told his class they could be sued for retweeting the “anti-Semitic” YouTube superstar PewDiePie during a rant the student secretly recorded.

The student, using the Twitter handle Rissian9, posted the video to the platform and said his teacher claimed he could be sued for merely retweeting PewDiePie, and explained that doing anything to support the YouTube star constituted supporting vile ideologies.

“Every time you retweet one of these things, or every time you promote this idea, you are promoting ignorance, racism, genocide, anti-Semitism,” the teacher ranted to his students, “These are all things you are putting forward when you are doing anything that promotes PewDiePie.”

“So be careful about this,” the teacher implored,  “If someone decides to, if something were to happen, and PewDiePie were to be sued for this, you could be complicit. If you retweet it, they can make you pay a fine as well,  because you have officially published anti-Semitic things,” he continued, “If you are republishing this stuff, you could get in trouble for it.”

The teacher offered a final warning to his students, telling them to understand that this is all “a real thing.”

After sitting through the tirade, the student uploaded the video to Twitter to let the world know what public school students must sit through, complaining that his school’s “ignorant” political arguments become “more ironic daily.”

As of late Monday night, Rissian has not replied to a request for comment and appears to be considering legal options before deciding whether to provide more information about the location of the school, name of the teacher, and age of the students.

This teacher’s rant was delivered after PewDiePie made headlines again when Buzzfeed writers unsuccessfully attempted to smear him as an anti-Semite, and his supporters fought back by “hacking” an apology into the Wall Street Journal.
