Democratic Presidential Julian Castro Candidate Calls for Northam to Resign Over Blackface/KKK Photo
Friday afternoon, Big League Politics published a photo of Democratic governor of Virginia Ralph Northam wearing either blackface or a KKK robe in a 1984 medical school yearbook.
The photo has caused intense backlash against Northam, who has issued an apology. But that is not enough for some, even in the Democratic party.
Democratic presidential candidate and former mayor of San Antonio Julian Castro issued the following statement on Twitter, calling for Northam’s resignation:
“It doesn’t matter if he is a Republican or a Democrat. This behavior was racist and unconscionable. Governor Northam should resign,” Castro said.

Editor of The Root and MSNBC guest Dr. Jason Johnson said he was unsure whether Northam would survive the latest scandal.
Northam is having the worst week imaginable for a politician. Earlier this week, he endorsed infanticide, claiming that it was the mother’s decision whether to kill her own child, even if the child was already born.
