SWOON! WashPost Journalist Suggests Overturning 22nd Amendment for Obama #Political
Washington Post political reporter Robert Costa was in full swoon mode late Thursday night as he discussed Barack Obama’s speech to the Democratic National Convention. Appearing on MSNBC just after midnight, Costa cited unnamed Democrats who want to overturn the 22nd Amendment so that Obama can make a triumphant return to the White House.
Disgraced ex-Nightly News anchor Brian Williams marveled at the Democrat saying that “our very democracy is being threatened.” Costa launched into his fantasy scenario: “This is such an important time in America we remember the 19th Amendment. But talking to Republicans and Democrats in recent minutes it's clear that they're not only talking about the 19th Amendment these days or tonight. They're talking about the 22nd Amendment that bans a president from going beyond two terms.”
The formerly conservative reporter added, “Democrats are looking at that Obama speech tonight and saying maybe one day he could come back? Maybe the 22nd Amendment could be repealed?”
Without citing any sort of specifics, Costa insisted that the Obama speech will have a real impact on Republicans: “That speech by a former president in a constitutional setting, Republicans are sitting up straight and paying attention.”
Williams awkwardly noted, “When our former President says our very democracy is being threatened, you think if we could hook some of them up to a polygraph, because Lord knows they couldn't say it publicly, they might get tweeted at. Do you think they would agree?”
Given that Williams lost his NBC Nightly News job for telling multiple falsehoods, maybe the journalist should avoid the polygraph references.

12:07 ETBRIAN WILLIAMS: Let's talk about the institutionalist Republican senators of which there many. A couple running for reelection. Most spent the last couple years hiding under the nearest rock. When our former president says our very democracy is being threatened, you think if we could hook some of them up to a polygraph, because Lord knows they couldn't say it publicly, they might get tweeted at. Do you think they would agree?
ROBERT COSTA: Brian, they see what happened tonight in the Democratic convention and they see that Obama coalition reassembling. This is such an important time in America we remember the 19th Amendment. But talking to Republicans and Democrats in recent minutes it's clear that they're not only talking about the 19th Amendment these days or tonight. They're talking about the 22nd Amendment that bans a president from going beyond two terms. Democrats are looking at that Obama speech tonight and saying maybe one day he could come back? Maybe the 22nd Amendment could be repealed?
Because that was a rebuke a historic rebuke of a current president by a former president. And that speaks to the fundamental core of the country, it’s values. And it was a partisan speech on one level. But beyond that from President Obama. A speech that many people while Senator Harris was historic. And had its own power. That speech by a former president in a constitutional setting, Republicans are sitting up straight and paying attention.
WILLIAMS: 'll say what I said opening the broadcast tonight. Over eight years you come to know your president well. Especially those of us who pay attention for a living. But all Americans all citizens, all consumers, how is it that the combination of traits we saw in Barack Obama tonight haven't been revealed in totality prior to now?
JASON JOHNSON: I think Barack Obama has always been a much more reserved person. And we’ve seen him in a much more relaxed, open shirt post presidency life. And I also think he realizes how dire things are.

WILLIAMS: By the end of the GOP convention, coming up around this time next week, it has been said if they are successful, Americans will believe the nominee is Hunter and not Joe
Biden. How are they going to counter some of the arguments made tonight on guns and shootings. On immigration. Or just not at all?
