McCarthy: Schumer INTERRUPTED Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen In White House Meeting
House Republican majority leader Kevin McCarthy revealed that Chuck Schumer interrupted Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen in the White House meeting Wednesday with President Donald Trump. Congressional leaders are returning to the White House Friday after they failed to hear the entire briefing from Nielsen, due to Schumer’s interruption. Nielsen’s briefing was intended for national security purposes due to recent incidents at the southern border.
“I was a little disappointed with, I would say, some on the other side. Once the Secretary started, Senator Schumer interrupted her and they really didn’t want to hear it. They challenged some of the points the Secretary made,” McCarthy said.
“I think they wanted to go on, without going through the briefing, they wanted to go on with their bill,” McCarthy said, concurring with Steve Scalise that the Democrats were just not willing to negotiate.
“The President has been very clear that it’s not the bill he would support, and Leader McConnell has said that he’s not bringing anything up that isn’t going to become law,” McCarthy said, referring to Nancy Pelosi’s fatuous bills she is trying to pass through the House.
